Lyric Soprano

Biography


Saundra is a classical Lyric Soprano who has delighted audiences at numerous venues with her angelic soaring voice at an array of events. 

Saundra started her career as a high fashion model and traveled extensively throughout the United States of America and Europe. Singing became her passion as a young child when she sang in Church Choirs. while living, working and studying language, art and voice in Paris, France she had the opportunity to join a Choral Ensemble.

She has studied voice with Lois Hunt, Danae Papageorge, and Jamie Ku and currently she is a student of Theresa Arrigo and Rosemarie Castanza.  Her studies also include piano and theory to enhance her musicianship.  Her late piano teacher Quida Mintz writes in her book; My Friend Lenny (Leonard Bernstein) “Saundra’s unique and powerful voice was heard when she made her debut singing “The Star Spangled Banner at the Tilles Center in June 2000.” Saundra performs at recitals, concerts, galas, patriotic events, weddings and funerals.

Saundra Simonée is not only an accomplished singer but a Liturgical Minister who is also highly active in the church ministry at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church in Oyster Bay, New York under the direction of Maestro Timothy Carl. She sings in the church choir, where she is a principal soloist. She frequently performs as a cantor, in duets, trios, quartets, church ensembles and special events.  

She sings traditional classical repertoire as well as Operatic, Classical, Contemporary, Patriotic, Spiritual and Inspirational music. Simonée is a guest soprano at Christ Church and performs in Gala Concerts conducted by Maestro Michael Haigler. She has also appeared in DVD’s and Television productions at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church’s Christmas Concerts.  Saundra is a guest soprano at St. Pius X in Plainview, New York under the direction of Mrs. Theresa Arrigo.   Simonée sings in different languages such as; English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Latin. She continues her vocal training under the direction of Juilliard vocal instructors.

In June, 2011,  Saundra Simonée had the opportunity to perform as a guest soprano with a Metropolitan Opera Singer in Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony "The Resurrection" conducted by Michael C. Haigler.

During the 2011-2012and 2012-2013 seasons Saundra performed in recitals, choral emsembles , concerts and made numerous solo appearances at various venues. 

In June, 2012, Saundra was a guest soprano in Brahams' German Requiem accompanied by a forty peice orchestra and conducted by Maestro Michael C. Haigler.

Also in June, 2012 and 2013 Saundra gave another grand performance of the National Athem at the Tilles Center.

Saundra Simonée earned undergraduate degrees from The City University in Fine Arts, Pace University in Occupational Education and Masters degrees from New York University in Psychology and Counselor Education; Professional Diplomas from Dowling College in Educational Administration and Leadership.

Saundra is a graduate of the Doctor of Education Program at Dowling College;  with a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Administration, Leadership and Technology.
